A flash flood warning has been issued in New York City, just as former President Donald Trump’s tank-themed birthday parade is about to begin.
The National Weather Service has predicted heavy rainfall that could lead to dangerous flash flooding in the area.
The warning came just hours before Trump’s 78th birthday celebration, which is set to include a large parade with military tanks and supporters marching in Midtown Manhattan.
The parade, organized by Trump fans, was expected to start at 10:30 AM near the New York Criminal Court building and head toward Trump Tower.
According to the National Weather Service, the flood alert is in place until at least 6:15 PM. Forecasters said thunderstorms could dump several inches of rain within a short time, which increases the risk of flash floods, especially in low-lying areas and streets with poor drainage.
City officials have asked residents to stay updated with alerts and to avoid driving through flooded roads. “Turn around, don’t drown” was the warning shared across public channels.
Despite the weather, organizers say the parade will go ahead as planned. Trump supporters were seen wearing red, white, and blue, carrying flags, and gathering near the event site early in the morning.
This event comes while Trump continues to face multiple legal challenges, including his ongoing hush money case in New York. His supporters, however, are using the parade as a show of strength and celebration of his leadership.
It is still unclear how the weather will affect the turnout or the movement of military vehicles during the parade. Safety personnel are expected to be present along the route in case of emergencies.
Residents are advised to avoid areas with heavy traffic and monitor local weather stations for real-time updates. Those planning to attend the event should bring rain gear and be cautious.
