Two men were arrested after a shooting that happened early Saturday morning at David’s BBQ in Alachua County, Florida.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident took place around 6:00 a.m. on May 25.
Deputies were called to the scene after receiving reports of a disturbance involving weapons near the restaurant. When they arrived, they found multiple people involved in a fight.
Deputies say several shots were fired during the altercation, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
Law enforcement quickly secured the area and started investigating what had happened. Witnesses on the scene helped identify the individuals involved. Deputies then arrested two men in connection with the shooting.
The first suspect is 34-year-old Christopher King. He has been charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, having a weapon as a convicted felon, and carrying a concealed firearm.
The second suspect is a 31-year-old Darnell Gainer. He faces charges related to tampering with evidence and resisting an officer without violence.
Authorities say that the investigation is still ongoing. More charges may be added, and deputies are still collecting evidence and talking to witnesses. No injuries have been reported, and no medical treatment was needed at the scene.
David’s BBQ is a well-known local restaurant in the area. The shooting has raised concerns among nearby residents and business owners.
Many locals expressed their shock, saying that it’s unusual for such violence to happen in that area, especially at such an early hour.
The Sheriff’s Office said they are thankful for the quick response from deputies and the help from community members who provided information. They are asking anyone else who might have seen something or has more details to come forward.
Both suspects were booked into the Alachua County Jail. As of now, they are awaiting court proceedings.
