A woman who was wanted in Georgia for murder has been arrested in South Carolina, according to officials.
Brittany Lynne Moody, a 28-year-old woman from Georgia, was taken into custody by the York County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina. She was wanted for her alleged role in the April 1 shooting death of 26-year-old Jaqwan Marquise Brown in Augusta, Georgia.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Moody after Brown was shot multiple times at a home on Alpine Way. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
According to reports, Moody fled Georgia after the incident and had been on the run for several weeks. Authorities worked with law enforcement in South Carolina to locate her. The sheriff’s office in York County confirmed she was arrested without incident.
Investigators say Moody is now being held in South Carolina, and she is expected to be extradited back to Georgia to face charges related to the murder.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case. No further details about the motive or other possible suspects have been shared publicly.
