Arrest Made in Connection to Intentional Deadly St. Pete Crash, Suspect Still at Large

Following an “intentional” deadly crash in St. Petersburg on Monday, the St. Petersburg Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the incident. Sebastian Williams, a passenger in the vehicle involved, has been charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, according to police reports.

The primary suspect in the crash, Tyree Gland, aged 34, remains at large. Gland, who has a history of violence and was previously convicted for a drive-by shooting in 2007, is wanted by authorities. He was reportedly seen driving a dark blue 2018 Cadillac ATS with license plate AT21AH.

The incident unfolded when police responded to a call regarding a man found in the road on 7th Avenue South around 3 a.m. Monday. The victim, identified as Taiwan Gland Sr., was determined to have been intentionally struck by a vehicle, indicating that the crash was not accidental but deliberate.

Taiwan Gland Sr.’s son, Taiwan Gland Jr., had tragically been killed just days prior in an unrelated incident at an apartment complex nearby. Tyree Gland, the primary suspect in Monday’s crash, is the brother of Taiwan Gland Sr., further complicating the familial dynamics surrounding the case.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Kovascev provided chilling details of the incident, revealing that Tyree Gland not only struck his brother once, causing severe injuries, but returned to the scene to “essentially finish the job.” Kovacsev noted that Tyree Gland has a tattoo referencing the detective involved in the case that led to his prior conviction, further indicating his violent history.

Police have obtained multiple videos from residents in the area, providing crucial evidence of the murder on Monday. Kovacsev described the footage as “very brutal” but emphasized its significance in the ongoing investigation.
